If you’ve seen the Dating PowerPoint trend on TikTok, you know the vibe: someone opens a slideshow and suddenly the relationship becomes a mini performance review.

It can be funny, dramatic, and very internet-coded. But underneath the jokes, the boyfriend quiz, and the “do you even know me?” questions, there’s usually something deeper:

Does he actually understand me? And is he serious about us?

Because sometimes, making a PowerPoint feels easier than directly saying:

“I need to know if you care about me the way I care about you.”

What Is the Dating PowerPoint Trend?

The Dating PowerPoint trend is when people turn relationship questions, complaints, standards, or tests into a PowerPoint-style presentation.

Common versions include:

• A boyfriend quiz
• A relationship check-in
• A “why I’m upset” presentation
• A boyfriend performance review
• A “do you actually know me?” test
• Dating questions to see if he is serious

It looks playful, but many people make one when they’re already feeling unsure.

Maybe his words and actions don’t match.
Maybe he forgets the things that matter to you.
Maybe you want to know where this relationship is going, but you don’t want to sound “too serious.”

So you turn it into a slideshow.

But deep down, the question may be:

“Am I being chosen, or am I just being kept around?”

Before You Make the PowerPoint, Ask Yourself These 7 Questions

1. Do I feel safe asking him direct questions?

A healthy relationship should have room for honest conversations.

If you need a joke, quiz, or presentation just to bring up your needs, ask yourself why.

Can you tell him when something hurts?
Can you ask where the relationship is going?
Can you express a need without being dismissed?

You shouldn’t have to turn every feeling into entertainment just to be heard.

2. Am I trying to connect, or catch him failing?

A playful quiz can be cute if the goal is connection.

But if you already expect him to fail, the PowerPoint may be less about fun and more about proving something you already fear.

Ask yourself:

Do I want us to understand each other better, or do I want evidence that he doesn’t care?

3. Does he remember the little things about me?

The small details matter because attention is one way people show emotional investment.

Does he remember your favorite drink?
What helps when you’re stressed?
What makes you anxious?
What kind of reassurance you need?

One wrong answer doesn’t mean he doesn’t care.

But if he constantly forgets what matters to you, especially after you’ve told him many times, that is worth noticing.

The real question isn’t:

“Can he pass a quiz?”

It’s: “Does he pay attention to my inner world?”

4. Does he show effort without being reminded?

A Dating PowerPoint can reveal what he knows, but his everyday actions reveal more.

Does he check in?
Does he make plans?
Does he follow through?
Does he repair after conflict?
Does he make you feel considered?

Effort is not just grand gestures. Often, it’s consistency.

If you have to keep reminding someone to care, the issue may not be that he doesn’t know the answers.

It may be that he isn’t showing up.

5. Can he handle feedback without getting defensive?

His reaction to the PowerPoint may tell you more than his answers.

When you say, “This hurt me,” does he listen and try to understand?

Or does he dismiss you, laugh it off, call you too sensitive, turn the blame back on you, or shut down?

Someone who is serious about you may not get every question right.

But they will care that the answers matter to you.

6. Do I know what I actually need from him?

Before asking, “Does he love me?” ask:

“What makes me feel loved?”

Do you need clear commitment?
More quality time?
Words of reassurance?
Consistent communication?
More effort?
Emotional presence during conflict?

Sometimes, indirect questions hide a real need.

“Do you know my favorite flowers?” may mean:
“I want to feel noticed.”

“Where do you see us in six months?” may mean:
“I need to know if this is real.”

The clearer you are about your need, the easier it becomes to see whether he can meet it.

7. If he answers badly, what will I do with that information?

This is the question most people skip.

If he doesn’t know the answers, what happens next?

Will you explain what matters?
Will you ask for change?
Will you notice the pattern?
Or will you keep pretending everything is fine?

If he avoids serious questions, laughs at your needs, or says he cares but never changes his behavior, that is information.

The point of the Dating PowerPoint is not to create drama.

It’s to create clarity.

What His Answers Really Mean

If he gets a few questions wrong, don’t panic.

People forget things. People get nervous. People show love differently.

A wrong answer does not automatically mean he doesn’t care.

But if he consistently doesn’t know what matters to you, avoids emotional questions, or makes you feel silly for asking, that deserves attention.

The real question is not:

“Did he pass the quiz?”

It’s: “Does he want to understand me better?”

The right person may not know every answer yet, but they will care enough to learn.

Still Not Sure Where You Stand?

If you want to make a Dating PowerPoint, part of you may already be looking for clarity.

Maybe you’re confused by mixed signals.
Maybe his words and actions don’t match.
Maybe you’re afraid of asking for too much.
Maybe something feels off, but you’re not sure what it means.

You don’t have to figure it out alone.

Talk to a trusted advisor and ask:

• “Is he serious about me?”
• “Am I overthinking his mixed signals?”
• “Should I bring this up or wait?”
• “What does his behavior really mean?”
• “Is this relationship worth continuing?”

Sometimes, one honest conversation can help you see what the PowerPoint was really about.

Key Takeaway

The Dating PowerPoint trend is funny because it turns love into a performance review.

But it’s relatable because many people want the same thing:

To feel understood, chosen, and emotionally safe.

So yes, make the slides if you want to.

But remember: the goal is not to prove him wrong.

The goal is to find out whether he is willing to understand you better.

And if you’re still unsure what his behavior means, don’t stay stuck in overthinking.

Talk to a trusted advisor and get the clarity you need before your next move.
