If you have been feeling your ex’s energy again, you are not imagining it.

With Venus Retrograde starting October 3, 2026, old love stories, unfinished emotions, and “what if” connections can suddenly come back into focus. This is one of the biggest astrology transits for exes returning, unexpected texts, emotional closure, and relationship déjà vu.

But here is the real question:

Is he coming back because he still loves you, or because Venus Retrograde is stirring up the past?

Before you answer that late-night message, here are 8 signs your ex may be thinking about returning.

1. You Suddenly Feel Him Again

You were doing fine.

Then out of nowhere, his name pops into your mind. You dream about him. You feel emotional without a clear reason. You remember small details you thought you had moved past.

During Venus Retrograde, old emotional ties can feel active again, especially if the connection ended without closure.

This does not always mean he is definitely coming back, but it can mean the energy between you is unresolved.

2. He Starts Watching Your Stories

One of the clearest modern signs?

He starts viewing your stories again.

Maybe he does not like anything. Maybe he does not message. But suddenly, he is there. Watching. Checking. Orbiting.

This can be a sign he is curious, nostalgic, or testing whether you are still emotionally available.

If he disappeared and now quietly returns to your digital space, Venus Retrograde may be pulling him back toward the memory of you.

3. You Keep Seeing His Name or Reminders

His name appears everywhere.

A song you both loved plays randomly. You see his car model. Someone brings him up. A place you went together suddenly shows up in your feed.

These little reminders can feel strange during Venus Retrograde because this transit often brings the past back through symbols, memories, and emotional triggers.

The question is not only “Is this a sign?”

The better question is:

What is this memory trying to show me?

4. He Reaches Out Casually

Not every comeback starts with a grand confession.

Sometimes it begins with:

“Hey, how have you been?”
“Saw this and thought of you.”
“Hope you’re doing well.”
“Random question…”

Venus Retrograde can make people test the waters before revealing their real feelings. If your ex texts casually, he may be trying to see if the door is still open.

But pay attention.

A text is not the same as changed behavior.

5. He Brings Up the Past

If he starts mentioning old memories, inside jokes, songs, trips, or emotional moments you shared, that may be a sign he is mentally revisiting the relationship.

Nostalgia is a major Venus Retrograde theme.

But nostalgia can be tricky.

Missing the past does not always mean someone is ready to build a better future. Sometimes they miss how you made them feel, not the responsibility of loving you properly.

6. He Seems Jealous or Curious About Your Life

If he asks mutual friends about you, reacts when you post yourself looking happy, or suddenly wants to know if you are dating, that can be a sign he still feels attached.

Venus Retrograde often activates comparison, regret, and possessiveness.

But be careful with this sign.

Jealousy is not love by itself. Someone can dislike losing access to you without being ready to show up with commitment.

7. The Breakup Never Felt Finished

Some endings are clean.

Others feel like a paused conversation.

If your breakup ended with confusion, mixed signals, unresolved feelings, or words left unsaid, Venus Retrograde may reopen that emotional chapter.

This is especially true if neither of you got real closure.

He may come back to explain, apologize, ask questions, or see if there is still something between you.

8. Your Intuition Feels Louder Than Usual

Deep down, you may already feel something shifting.

Maybe you feel he is going to text. Maybe you sense he is thinking about you. Maybe your body reacts before anything happens.

Intuition can become stronger during intense relationship transits, but it is important to separate intuition from anxiety.

Intuition feels clear.

Anxiety feels desperate.

If you feel calm but certain, listen. If you feel panicked and obsessive, pause before acting.

The Tarot Question to Ask First

Before you ask, “Is he coming back?” ask this instead:

“What is his true intention if he returns?”

This question is more powerful because someone returning is only half the story.

You need to know why.

Try this simple 3-card tarot spread:

Card 1

What energy is he currently holding toward me?

Card 2

What is his true intention if he reaches out?

Card 3

What should I protect before responding?

This spread helps you avoid confusing attention with love, nostalgia with commitment, or a temporary return with real emotional growth.

So, Will He Text You?

Venus Retrograde starting October 3 can absolutely bring exes back into your life.

But the deeper lesson is not just whether he texts.

It is whether his return gives you clarity, healing, or another cycle of confusion.

If he comes back with honesty, accountability, and changed behavior, the conversation may be worth having.

If he comes back with vague words, late-night energy, or emotional breadcrumbs, this may be your sign to choose yourself.

Because Venus Retrograde does not only bring people back.

It shows you whether they belong in your future.

Need Clarity Before You Reply?

If you feel your ex’s energy returning, or you are waiting for a message and do not know what it means, a love tarot reading can help you see the truth behind the connection.

Before you text back, get clear on his intentions, your emotional path, and whether this is a second chance or a repeated lesson.

Venus Retrograde may bring him back.

But your intuition decides whether the door stays open.
